Twitty Tuesday #7: Celebrating Thanksgiving in the Big Apple

It's Twitty Tuesday at JennyMariePR.com!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Here are some cool ideas you might want to explore on Thanksgiving:

1. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

If you're in the mood for some entertainment earlier in the day, go check out The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will be featuring more than 10,000 participants, giant balloons, colorful floats and marching bands. The parade will be held from 9AM to 12PM EST, but people usually start lining the streets at 6:30AM, so be sure to get there early. The parade will commence at 77th Street and Central Park West, march south on Central Park West, then turn east and continue along Central Park South to 7th Avenue. For more info, maps, etc. check out this site: http://bit.ly/5d9Blr

2. Thanksgiving at the Central Park Boathouse

If your planning on eating-out for Thanksgiving, you might want to consider going to the charming Central Park Boathouse, located in Central Park near Fifth Avenue and 72nd, where you'll enjoy a lakeside Thanksgiving with a marvelous view and dine from an extensive menu featuring the usual turkey and trimmings as well as options like foie gras and Moroccan spiced cod. If it's not too chilly out, you can even try to rent a gondola after dessert. For more info and menu options check out: http://bit.ly/4pzBN

3. The "Secret" Cranberry Sauce Recipe

I am going to reveal the recipe for best cranberry sauce to those of you who are planning on having the ultimate Thanksgiving meal. Ingredients: You will need 12 ounces of cranberries, 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup orange juice. Directions: In a medium sized saucepan, over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the orange juice. Stir in the cranberries and cook until the cranberries start to pop (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and place sauce in a bowl. Cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools.

Where to Party?!: 49 Grove

I had the pleasure of going to 49 Grove on Friday night with my girls Erin & Sarah (pictured above). I thought it was cool. I would not recommend it to out-of-towners. The line is crazy long and the place is packed so if you are not use to NYC nightlife...then you will hate this place.

On the bright side, if you know a promoter you can walk right in no problem. The bartender gave us almost double shots of Jager so the drinks were up to par. Nothing was watered down. The crowd is mixed but I would say mostly young professionals.

Located in the West Village on Bleeker & Grove

Daddy Issues: Lindsay Lohan Edition

I know people say that its not always the parent's fault...but if I had a sick crazed father constantly trying to make money off my mishaps...I might turn to drugs too.

Lindsay Lohan's Father had a phone conversation with her mother about Lindsay's well-being...then decided to release it to the media. Bad move on his part considering they all have legal papers against him. People are so sick.

Lindsay wrote the following on her twitter page:

"My father is a lunatic and doesn't even deserve such a title since he's never been around in my life other than when he'd threaten me and my family," Lohan tweeted. "He should be where he has always put himself after verbally and physically abusing people all my life, behind bars."

"It's so sad to get a phone call from my baby sister asking, 'Why is daddy doing this?'

Its sad. Children turn to parents for normalcy...A sense of right & wrong...how can you expect this girl to have a good set of morals from this dude?

Anyway...I'm not going to post the phone convo but if you want to listen here it is

Twitty Tuesday's #5: Cool Reads

This week is about cool reads!

1) Newer Novel

Even though I'm about a year late with finding out about this novel, City of Thieves is a definite "must read". Screenwriter David Benioff writes a novel about his grandparents' experience in Russia during World War II. The writer is very visual and descriptive as he takes you on a journey of two soldiers. Benioff creates a thrilling, funny and sad novel.

2) The Classic

A book that I believe everyone should eventually read is The Overcoat: and Other Tales of Good and Evil by Nicolai Gogol. Gogol is one of the greatest 19th-Century Russian authors and one of my personal favorites. Some well-known stories are 'The Nose,' a savage satire of Russia's incompetent bureaucrats and its snobbish and complacent upper classes; 'Old-Fashioned Farmers,' a pleasant depiction of an elderly couple living in rustic seclusion; 'The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarrelled with Ivan Nikiforovich,' one of Gogol's most famous comic stories; and 'The Overcoat,' widely considered a masterpiece of form. Definitely be sure to check it out!
