Skyzoo "Jansport Strings" Produced by 9th Wonder
"The idea behind Jansport Strings is not based on it being literal, but more so in the figurative sense. As a kid in NY, the strings on your Jansport bag were a sign of power and presence. Kids would steal the strings off of each other's bags and burn the tips to prevent getting robbed of them once they got them. The song is a 3 minute auto-bio of me as a kid in Brooklyn and seeing more than my friends and I had bargained for. In essence, my Jansport strings tied it all together, seeing what we all saw and what it made us. The ending is a clip from Video Music Box, the legendary NYC video show run by DJ Ralph McDaniels. This episode in particular was the debut of Chi-Ali's 'Age Ain't Nothin But A Number'. Seeing that video that day on this episode of VMB made me start rhyming. This clip was literally the moment that changed my life". -Skyzoo
The first leak off of the highly anticipated new album "A Dream Deferred", this is "Jansport Strings", produced by 9th Wonder. See below for the direct link to post. And as always, thanks for the support. "A Dream Deferred", available this fall on Skyzoo's new imprint The Faculty Inc, a label deal with Duck Down Music.

My Stance on Bloomberg's Potential Soda Ban
In my eyes, Mayor Bloomberg can do no wrong. I know I am bias when it comes to him but I can't help but agree with a lot of his decisions and views on New York City. People are extremely upset and have been very vocal about their stance on Bloomberg's idea of creating a soda band. This works my nerves to no end.
People ask that ridiculous question; "Why is he concerned about soda when there are several other issues that need to be solved in New York City?"
According to the CDC, the obesity rate in New York was 23.9% in 2010.
The Soda Ban will not solve the obesity epidemic but it is a great start. Mayor Bloomberg is thinking about the overall health of New York City residents so I just can't see how people can argue with him on this ban. As much as it kills me to see how many calories are in my favorite burger, I am happy to be in-the-know because I will make a more conscience decision before I order it. However, I have the willpower to make that decision and not everyone does. That's why the soda ban is necessary. It's not easy to turn down the additional few ounces for an extra 25 cents (I've done it myself).
I understand there are other important issues going on in NYC but we can't downplay the obesity problem. That's all I am saying.
Namaste,
JMPR

Bravo Frank Ocean!
I admire Frank Ocean for coming out. It took a lot of guts. I don't think his decision to come out will hurt him or at least I hope not. Hats off to Charlamagne tha God (who I listen to every morning while showering) for the statement above. It's good to see Frank has a lot of support! :)

Warm Farewell to Ann Curry. You will be missed on the TODAY Show
People who follow my career may know that I am a big fan of the TODAY Show. I've had the pleasure of having my clients on the morning program and I really enjoy all the hosts. I was able to meet Ann a few times and she was always so warm and welcoming. Watching this farewell made me shed real tears this morning. You will definitely be missed.

True Blood Season 5 Premiere Recap
Premiere Recap: Tara, Tara, Tara...
The moment we've all been waiting for. I have to say I was rather impressed with the premiere of Season 5. The episode picked up where it left off, leaving Tara injured and possibly deceased on Sookie's floor. Pam (my homegirl) was gracious enough to try to revive Tara by making her a vamp...and it WORKED! Tara is a very aggressive/fearless "human" so I can't imagine how amazing she will be as a vamp. Excited to see how this pans out.
Eric is starting to get over Sookie.
Bill still seems torn.
Alcid came out the wood works to save Sam. I wonder what will become of that alliance.
Terry, what's the deal with his marine friend?
I guess we will see.

Happy Birthday E!
My wonderful roommate of many years and dear friend Erin turned 25. I don't know where I would be without this girl. She's been there for me through sickness and health...not to mention she always tells me the honest truth about my selection in men =/

Daniel Vosovic's Winter 2012 Collection
I had the pleasure of going to Daniel Vosovic's trunk show last Thursday to take a peek at his 2012 Winter Collection. You may remember him from season 2 of Project Runway. I was beyond amazed at what I saw. The collection featured beautiful digital print pieces and one of my favorite colors for the season, mint.

Where to Grub: Thalia
I had the opportunity to dine at Thalia over the weekend and I was quite pleasantly surprised. This secret gem is located on 50th St. & 8th Avenue. The restaurant has a great decor and you don't have to shout for the person at your table to hear you.
My recommendations:
Appetizer: The Ahi Tuna Tartare or The Spicy Salmon Tartare
Entree: Braised Beef Short Ribs or The Gruyere Smoked Pork Loin
Dessert: The Vanilla Creme Brulee
