My Reflection on The Movie & Soundtrack: New Jack City
I've been listening to New Jack Swing all week and it got me reminiscing...
I remember my father let us watch New Jack City with him. You guys have to understand I was 6 when it came out LOL. I personally think you should let your kids watch Rated R movies at a young age. It gives kids a better sense of reality. Watching Pooky (Chris Rock) go through withdrawals scared the ever living shit out of me at age 6...which is a good thing. Those drug free commercials don't work because they are forced messages.
If you want your kid NOT to try drugs make them watch New Jack City (Plus Transpotting & Reqium for a Dream)
On a lighter note, Nino Brown had so many classic one liners & Ice-T was a true badass in that film lol
"Sit Your 5 dollar ass down before I make change" Nino Brown (Wesley Snipes)
"Yeah, Yeah a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Now back to the titties" Scotty (Ice-T)
"Am I my Brother's Keeper, Yes I am" Nino Brown (Wesley Snipes)
"Cancel that Bitch, I'll buy another one" Nino Brown (Wesley Snipes)
"I tried to kick it, but that shit just be callin me man, it be callin me..." Pooky (Chris Rock)
"Rock-a-bye Baby" Keisha (Vanessa Williams) <---Also shouts to Just Blaze for using that quote in the cuts on "Lullaby" by Fabolous. Dope track!

Sandra Bullock Files for Divorce From Her Dirt Bag Husband
My homegirl Sandra has been going through a lot lately. Its sad considering she won a Golden Globe and an Oscar this year. I guess you just can't win.
I'm glad she kicked her cheating husband to the curb. Once a cheat always a cheat. I love that she decided to adopt a baby. A lot of children need homes and we need more people like Sandy.
TEAM SANDRA!

Twitty Tuesday: Race on Broadway
If I were you I would race to go see Race on Broadway before the show ends on June 13. I had the pleasure of seeing Race this past Sunday at the Barrymore Theatre, located at 243 West 47th Street. Written and directed by multiple award-winning playwright/director David Mamet, the play "tackles America's most controversial topic [race] in a provocative new tale of sex, guilt and bold accusations." The story is about two lawyers (James Spader and David Alan Grier) who try to defend a wealthy white executive (Richard Thomas) charged with raping a black woman. When a new, black legal assistant (Kerry Washington) gets involved in the case, the racial controversy is brought to a boil. In my opinion, James Spader was even more compelling and charismatic on stage than in movies. The show was absolutely magnificent. My only complaint is that I wish the show could have been longer! - It was that good. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.raceonbroadway.com.

Where to Party in NYC?! Hudson Terrace
The girls and I had the pleasure of going to The Hudson Terrace on Saturday night. Do not get this confused with The Hudson Hotel (one of my fav spots in NYC).If you are not familiar with the Hudson Terrace, its located next to the House/Techno super club Pacha. We pulled up and there was at least 200 people in line. The girls and I walked in with the Promoter Giuseppe. Get on someone's list or you will be waiting in line. If you know a promoter you won't have an issue. Guys, if you dont buy a bottle don't bother coming. The bouncers are tough on the dudes (which is normal). The music was really dope and the decor is sick. The only bad thing I would say about the place is the crowd. A lot of skeeze balls and thirst buckets.
Located on 46th St. between 10th & 11th Ave.

Twitty Tuesday: Top Greek Restaurant NYC - "Anthos"
If you're looking for one of the best Greek restaurants in New York City, you will definitely be in for a treat at Anthos, located at 36 W. 52nd St., New York. Set in a chic setting and environment, Anthos doesn't serve the traditional Greek menu, but what you will uncover is some of the finest Greek-influenced food, which is presented and cooked in an upscale manner. The menu, designed by a talented chef by the name of Michael Psilakis, lists several appetizers and meals, such as the smoked octopus, sheep milk ricotta dumpling, phyllo rapped salmon and lamb saddle, all of which I tried (and have to say were absolutely impeccable... to say the least), as well as several other fish dishes, such as halibut, yellowfin tuna and poached striped bass. The desserts were also incredible. I ordered the chocolate walnut torta and it was divine, especially the way it just melted in my mouth. I also must add that the service was fantastic! My favorite part about my Anthos experience was the fact that the chef sent several complimentary treats to all of the tables. Some of the complimentary treats I got to sample included the Mediterranean fish soup and many different desserts, such as some upscale lemon-flavored cotton candy, soft sour gummies, ginger bread and tiny little brownies. I also had the chance to try some "Ouzo," a famous Greek hard liquor, which smells like black licorice, has the strength of a Patron shot and goes down with a tingle and with freshness. I personally tried the "Mexaca Ouzo" and it was delicious. The restaurant also serves a few selections of Greek wines that you can enjoy with your meal as well. Definitely be sure to check this place out! For more info, visit the Anthos website at http://www.anthosnyc.com/.

Public Enemy Wants Fans to Donate/Fundraise for Their New Album (Huh?)
I love Public Enemy but I find this concept a little weird. The group is using the website Sellabrand.com to help raise $750,000 for their upcoming album.
They stated the following:
"We have learned that the fan-funding model is still not fully developed and, as a result, a $250,000 fund-raising effort, while possible, will take too long to accomplish…As a result of our SellaBand experience and all that we have learned, we now believe that a $75,000 fund raising target will fulfil the needs for a new recording project and is much more appropriate for the strength of the existing SellaBand model and the current economic climate."
I wonder what happens if they do not meet that goal? The album won't be as hot? or won't be released? Either way, I'm still a fan. I'd like to see how this pans out.

KRS-One Boycotts the National Hip-Hop Museum
So Apparently, a National Hip-Hip Museum was launched in the Bronx on April 8th (First time I'm hearing about this myself). KRS decided to share his personal thoughts on the museum and shocked the audience a little bit...to say the least lol. I guess they didn't see this coming...
"The reason that it's not going to happen is because Afrika Bambaataa has said this event is illegitimate and should not happen," said an angry KRS-One. "None of the pioneers are in support of this event. None of them will be here tonight. I am here on behalf of the temple of hip-hop as an observer. We are observing."
"In closing, what you are getting, actually, is a real dose of hip-hop's culture," he continued. "Here is what we are dealing with, ladies and gentleman. We have been trying to start a hip-hop museum for over 20 years. In fact, it was Afrika Bambaataa that came up with the idea. However, most of the people who have been behind the hip-hop museum idea seem to always create groups without addressing the pioneers themselves." stated Mr. KRS-One

Possible Philanderer: Steven Seagal Edition
According to Popeater.com, Steven Seagal is facing a lawsuit for sexual assault. A woman named Kayden Nguyen (former model) was hired to be Seagal's new Executive Assistant. She claimed "Mr. Seagal had been keeping two young female Russian 'attendants' on staff who were available for his sexual needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." as well as, Seagal treated her "as his sex toy."
uh oh lmao
Supposedly, (according to the lawsuit) Mr. Seagal said, "My wife wouldn't mind if you and I had a sexual relationship."

Twitty Tuesday: A Voce
Hello Jenny Marie PR Blog Readers!!!
It's Twitty Tuesday today! I'd like to let you all know about a fantastic Italian restaurant that you must visit while in New York. It's called A Voce, located at 10 Columbus Circle (3rd Floor) and 41 Madison Ave (at 26th Street). I had the pleasure of visiting the A Voce at Columbus Circle, which is the newest of the the two locations and has an incredible menu and a very chic atmosphere. A Voce's menu was created by Chef Missy Robbins, who has received critical acclaim for her authentic ingredient-driven, regionally inspired creations. "From beautifully prepared fish and meats to pastas made in-house each day and served as a canvas for fresh and flavorful ingredients, A Voce offers a contemporary take on Italy's most beloved dishes," according to their website. A Voce has an award winning wine list as well, which boasts more than 850 selections of the best wines from Italy, France and the United States. At the Columbus Circle location, A Voce features a stunning glass wall which exhibits 7,500 bottles. Definitely be sure to have your dessert with the Moscato, which is a sweet, slightly fizzy and clean wine. It is one of the finest I've had.
I highly recommend A Voce. For more info, visit A Voce's website. http://www.avocerestaurant.com/

Twitty Tuesday: 10 Tips To Impress A Manhattan Woman...
The problem with Manhattan is that there is always a better man out there, which Manhattan women are well-aware of. Dating is tactical. It's a game. Some know how to play it better than others. The more you've dated, the better you get at it. You'd be surprised at how some of the smallest things, such as things men do, don't do, or say or don't say, can completely turn a woman, especially a Manhattan woman, "on" or "off". You always hear people saying, "It's the small things" - BUT my problem with this cliche statement is that it's not very specific. Where do you draw the "small things" line? Manhattan women have higher dating standards and they expect men to show much more effort, because they know there is probably another man who will. Men should also be aware of the fact that they are competing against past boyfriends or dates, which means that once a woman has been spoiled by another man in the past, she seeks to find a man who spoils her in the same way or more. It's hard for a man to know what type of dating experience a woman has had in the past, especially if they don't know her too well, so better show some effort in the beginning and keep it consistent. Here are some tips:
1. Pushy men get pushed away. Just like a man likes to chase a woman, a woman enjoys the chase as well. If a woman says she is busy three times and doesn't tell you when she's available to see you, then she is probably not interested. There are plenty of women out there so move on. The more you pester her about going out with you, the less she will want to see you. Manhattan women like men to be smooth, sophisticated, classy, not desperate, obsessive or stalker-like. Also, the text, "So when are you going to come over and hang out?", on a first date, is elementary school to a Manhattan woman. Show some effort and at least take the girl out to dinner before you even think of inviting her over to your place.
2. If you can't seem to get her to go on a date with you, convenience can be a huge key factor in getting someone to go out with you. The best dates were the ones where I felt like "everything was taken care of." Sometimes us Manhattan women can be really exhausted after a long day of work, but if a man says "I'll have a cab come pick you up" or "A limo is on it's way to get you" or "Let's meet at a restaurant close by you," sometimes makes a woman more motivated to want to get up and get ready to see you. Also, a man should ALWAYS offer to pay for the cab on a first date, especially if he wants to be considered a gentleman.
3. Learn how to eat. Eating well and having table manners is extremely important. Manhattan restaurants are on a different level. You don't want to embarrass your date. Also, at some point, women will think about whether they can introduce you to their parents and eating like a sloppy pig is sure to get you the boot. I know, it's harsh, but it is true. Mothers notice everything and they will be sure to comment on all of your negative characteristics.
4. Know your wines. Manhattan women like men who know wine. I can't tell you how sexy it is for a man to have good taste in wine and to be able to order a nice bottle of red or white wine. At least make an effort to get to know some of the basics. Fish does not go well with red wine! There are many books which can teach you this and more about wine.
5. Be a gentleman. Opening the door, giving a hand, taking a woman's jacket for her and pulling out the chair for her, never gets old. This will show a woman that you have class, you appreciate her and you respect her. All women are princesses on the inside, especially Manhattan women, and they like to be treated that way, even though they may or may not admit it. Also, a gentleman should ALWAYS pay for the meal while dating a Manhattan woman. Manhattan women have gone on way too many dates with men where they never have to pay for a meal. Once in a relationship, things may change, but during dating time, there is no such thing as "Wanna split it?" or "You wanna join forces?". Also, if after the date a woman goes back home on her own, definitely send her a text and ask her if she made it home safe - It always leaves a good impression.
6. Little surprises here and there will make them come back for more. Manhattan women love to be spoiled, even if they say, "Aw, you didn't have to do that" or "You shouldn't have" or "I like you without these gifts." It's all lies. Many Manhattan women are already spoiled and love gifts at all times and at random times. Chocolate boxes and flowers at work are much appreciated and girls love to show them off and share them with their co-workers. Manhattan women especially love expensive, classy gifts. Also, if your woman is hungry and doesn't have time to grab lunch, ordering her a nice meal and having it delivered to her office can go a LONG way. That will definitely impress her.
7. Teach her something. Manhattan women are more well-read, intelligent, cultured and motivated. A knowledgeable, intelligent, well-read man is very attractive to a Manhattan woman. I know it's cold, but dinners get extremely boring if the woman is sitting there, doing most of the talking and she is not receiving any intellectual feedback. Women enjoy learning about new things. Try to teach her something new.
8. The man should plan the evening of a first date. There are too many Manhattan men out there who are spontaneous, adventurous, outgoing and who can completely win-over your date, so make sure you try to top them. Once again, I know it's cold, but it's true. Many Manhattan women are used to men planning the entire evening. Most Manhatten women enjoy this and there are very few who don't. When I receive a text that reads, "So what should we do tonight?", I am completely turned "off". The reason being is that in Manhattan there are way too many men who will send me a message that reads, "So I have the perfect plan: Dinner at _______, Drinks at _______, Party at _______, you down?" Now, I don't know about you, but I personally ignore the first text and go with the man who sent me the second text - most Manhattan women would do the same. Cheers.
9. Manhattan women have a zero-tolerance policy for cheap men. There are too many men out there who would splurge on their date and Manhattan women would much rather be on a date with the man who is not scared to spend the extra dollar on them. "Let's get this wine bottle *points to the cheapest one on the menu*" is a NO-NO-NO! Women notice this type of stuff. You don't have to order the most expensive bottle on the menu, but NEVER go with the cheapest one.
10. You must know how to please a woman. There are far too many men in Manhattan who can replace you, especially if you are not good in bed. It's sad and unfortunate, but that's how it is when you live in a big city. If you cannot please your woman, it is very easy for her to "get it" somewhere else. The first time can make it or break it, so let it be the best she's ever had, otherwise it's the BOOT!
